The 1930 Federal Census for South Kingstown, Washington Co., Rhode Island, District 15 taken April 18, 1930 records Clifford T. Gardner Jr. (3/12) living with his mother Esther M. Gardner (17) in the home of his grand parents Harry C. (44 - RI/RI/RI) and Mary J. (37 - RI/RI/RI) Gardiner (sic). Also in the household is Esther's brother George C. Gardiner (8). Actually Esther is listed as married and as a daughter, not daughter-in-law. There is no father (Clifford T. Gardner Sr.) present. The 1920 Federal Census for Wakefield, Washington Co., Rhode Island, District 358, page 158 taken January 7, 1930 records Harry C. (33 - RI/RI/RI) and Mary J. (27 - RI/RI/RI) Gardiner (sic) with children Mary E. (7) and Beatrice C. (2 3/12). It is resonable to conclude that Mary E. is Esther and that she is the daughter of Harry and Mary Gardner. That census record does not list a Clifford Gardner (Sr?).

Clifford married Gloria Lee Fisher, daughter of Clarence L. Fisher and Mildred E. Shover. (Gloria Lee Fisher was born on 25 May 1932 in Cumberland Co., PA and died on 15 Jul 2006 in Loysville, Perry Co., Pennsylvania.)
