Hi Chase!
Thanks for responding! I have already come across your James T. Daughtrey while searching for Johnny's Charles Bembrey Daughtrey ancestor, but I don't have much info about him yet.
I am forwarding a progress report that I just sent Johnny, and the same suggestion about exploring Bo Hagen's website applies to you. Also, it would be helpful if you could inquire as to other groups of Daughtrey families in the Cook County area to see if my Dad missed others while researching his book in the 1970s-1983. Finally, is there someone in your family who is considered the "keeper of the records", the family historian who is interested in genealogy and who knows how to use the Internet for searching family history?
I am copying this e-mail to several folks who are presently researching my direct line, and who are interested in Daughtrey families in general --- Judy Womack is an excellent and thorough genealogist, and Hu Daughtrey is an expert in Civil War Daughtreys.
Best Regards,
Bill

Bill,
Thanks for the letter. I am excited to here that you are researching the family tree.
I think you have spoke with the Sheriff, I have always asked him about our family because he knows a lot about it.
My grandfather was James Thomas "Buck" Daughtrey, he was the son of James T. Daughtrey who was the son of James H. and Anna. My grandfather Buck and the Sheriff's grandfather, Mr. Tom Parker were first cousins. I know that my great grandfather James T. came to Lenox, GA (Cook County) from Holland, Virginia.
James T. and his first wife are buried around Cordele, GA. My dad has the obit and I will get you a copy of it.
I am anxious to learn more about our family. I also have some pictures of my great grandfather, grandfather, and father that I used in a campaign ad since I was a fourth generation Cook County resident.
There are some other Daughtrey's here in Cook County, William "Bill" Daughtrey and his father William D (Duffy) Daughtrey. I think that Bill told me that his family came down from the North Carolina/Virginia Line area, but inside North Carolina. I have told him about your letter and I am planning on showing it to him tonight.
My Dad also knows a lot about our family and I am going to copy him on this email so he can join our dialog.
Thanks again for contacting me.
Chase
