While Emma's death certificate indicates she was born in 1861, the 1860 census records her age as 6/12 years of age. Thus, the February 15, 1861 birth date must be February 15, 1860.


The 1910 Federal Census for Henderson Township, Vance Co., North Carolina, District 82, page 152A, dated April 20, 1910 records Alexander N. (61) and Emma E. (48) Jordan with their son Hugh A. Jordan (17) living at 204 Mulberry Street. Alexander and Emma have been married for 29 years and have had 6 children of whom only 1 is still living.

The 1920 Federal Census for Henderson City, Henderson Township, Vance Co., North Carolina, District 92, page 123B, dated January 5, 1910 records Alex M. Jordan (71) boarding at the home of Vernon & Lottie Duke at 615 Chestnut Street.


The 1930 cnesus for Henderson, NC indicates that Hugh A. Jordan marries Naomi T. (born 1897 in Maryland) in 1915. The 1920 and 1910 census records combine to name Naomi's parents as Charles and Sarah Tankersley.
