After Nathan's death in 1888, Deliah continued to live at 429 South 7th Street in Reading, PA.

The 1900 federal Census for Reading, Berks Co., PA, Ward 2, District 49 records Delih (sic) Essick (Dec 1834 - England/England/England) living with her son Walter Essick (April 1863) and his wife Minnie (July 1866) at 429 South 7th Street. Walter is a Machinist married for 12 years with no children. Delih is a widow with 6 children of which 2 are still living. She indicates that she immigrated to the United States in 1843. Also in the household is the widow Mary M. Kunztman (Jan 1846 - PA), servant.

The 1910 federal Census for Reading, Berks Co., PA, Ward 3, District 56, page 102B, dated April 23, 1910 records Walter S. Essick (47 - PA/PA/PA) and wife Elizabeth (37 - PA/PA/PA) with son Richard Essick (1 3/12) living at 1116 Franklin Street. Walter is an Optician and has been married to Elizabeth for 3 years. Elizabeth has had 2 children, both of whom are still living. This is the 2nd marriage for each. Also in the household a servant, the widow Mary Kunzman (63 - PA).
