Joseph is a farmer and report that this is the his first marriage as does Ida. They have been married for 27 years and have had 2 children.

The 1910 Federal Census for the Franklin District, Southampton Co., VA, District 119, page 208A, dated April 29, 1910 records Joseph B. (53 - VA/VA/VA) and Ida M. (54 - VA/VA/VA) Vaughan with children Lillian L. (26 - VA) [the individual is reported as a male] and James A. (22 - NC) living on Franklin Road. Joseph is a farmer and reports being married for 17 years. They have had 2 children.

The 1920 Federal Census for Franklin Town, Southampton Co., VA, ED#213, page 207A, dated Janaury 27, 1920 records James B. (63 - VA/VA/VA) and Ida M. (64 - VA/VA/VA) Vaughn living at 400 Clay Street. Also living (renting) in the house is William Atkinson (26) with his wife Carrie (25) and their children Robert W. (3 2/12) and Winnifred R. (8/12).

James married Ida M. Rawls, daughter of Andrew Jackson Rawls and Emaline Rawls, circa 1883. (Ida M. Rawls was born on 14 Apr 1855 in Nansemond Co., Virginia, died on 27 Jun 1928 in Virginia and was buried in Popular Springs Cemetery, Franklin, Virginia.)
