Nita Rawls Watterson wrote in a January 2006 email the following regarding the Jacob Daughtrey family:
It is Jacob Daughtrey I married to Sarah Cross, son Jacob Daughtrey II married to Elizabeth Hunter, son Edward Riddicks Daughtrey married (1) Mary Jane Vaughan-died in fire, (2) Mary Elizabeth Lee-died very soon as married, (3) Mary Ann Freeman - Mother of the following children:
Elizabeth Lee (Bettie), Edward R. H., Joseph J., Richard A., Jasper, and Virginius.
Jasper Daughtrey m. Mary Carson and they had a daughter Edith Freeman who married a Emmitt Rawls who lived close to me and our families were friends and I talked to their daughter Edith Rawls Smith yesterday. Richard A. was the father of Richard Adolphus Daughtrey, Jr. and he was the father of Richard Adolphus Daughtrey, III and she [Edith Rawls Smith] knows him quite well. I [Nita Rawls Watterson] do not know him.

Jacob married Elizabeth D. Hunter on 8 Feb 1816. (Elizabeth D. Hunter was born on 4 Mar 1798 and died on 9 Nov 1863 in Nansemond Co, VA..)
