Census records appear to indicate that the father of Harriet Jane McCraw is Frank McCraw ... 1840 and 1850 census records record McCraw, not McGraw. The 1850 Federal Census for Granville Co., NC records the Millwright Frank McCraw (52 - VA) with his children Lafayette McCraw (24), William McCraw (17), Damsel McCraw (16), Frank McCraw Jr. (13), and Sally McCraw (10) living in the home of Lucy Coghill (71 - VA). [Additional research indicates that Lucy was married to a Thomas Coghill]
The NC death certificate of Wm J. McCraw (ca 1829 - 10/10/1920) records his parents as Frank McCraw and Sallie Coghill. The informant to his death was George E. Wortham who is the son of William McCraw's susposed sister, Harriet Jane McCraw Wortham, all all Vance Co., NC. All this indicates that the parents of Harriet Jane Wortham are Frank and Sallie Coghill and that the mother of Sallie Coghill is Lucy Coghill.
Harriet married Edward W. (Ned) Wortham, son of John George Wortham and Elizabeth Ward Jordan, on 5 Sep 1848 in Granville Co., N.C. (Edward W. (Ned) Wortham was born on 3 Apr 1821 in Warren Co., N.C. and died on 3 Jun 1902 in Henderson, Vance Co., N.C..)
