A copy of the obituary was given to this researcher in September 2008 by Clara Garret Fountain. This was part of her father's Garrett Family Research.
The obituary for Martha Britt reports her death on "Wednesday April 2" at age 81 or 82. Census records have her born in 1815 in 1850, 1860, and 1880 but 1818 in 1870. Obviously, that puts the year of her death as 1896 or 1899. However, the only years that have a Wednesday April 2 date for that period of time are 1890 & 1902. Since she is not listed in the 1900 census one can assume that her year of death must be 1890. See general notes on her son Isaac Edward Britt for 1900 census facts.
