The 1920 Federal Census, Virginia, Chesterfiled, Dale, District 9, page 114B records Robert B. (44) and Dora J. (42) Ellis with children Burton (28), May (18),William (16), and Fendley (9) living on Zion Hill Road near the inersection with Hopkins Road. They are living next door to the widow Pathina Chalkley (78) and her children Nannie Chalkley (40), Willie Chalkley (34), and grand son Burton Chalkley (11). Willie lists his employment as an actor in the theater.
The 1930 Federal Census, Virginia, Chesterfiled, Dale, District 5, page 74B records Nannie B. Chalkey (50-farming) living next door to her divorced brother, William B. Chalkley (45-actor in a theater). They are living on Court House Road.
