The 1850 Federal Census for Chesterfield Co., VA taken Sept. 10, 1850 page 133B records Mathew H. Mann (22) with wife Elizabeth (28) and children Pleasant (1) and Rosa (7/12). Also in the household are Aranda A. Perkinson (11), Andrew B. Perkinson (10), Esra Perkinson (7), and Elizabeth Perkinson (5). These are children by Elizabeth's first marriage.

The 1860 Federal Census for Chesterfield Co., VA page 515 records Matthew H. Mann (33) with wife Elizabeth (36) with children Aranda A. Mann (21), Elizabeth Mann (14), Pleasant Mann (11), Rosetta Mann (9), Robert Mann (6), Martha (4), and Willie (2). Aranda and Elizabeth are actually step children to Matthew. Next door to Matthew and Elizabeth is Wiley (68) and Mary (45) Perkinson. Wiley is perhaps the father of Elizabeth's husband, John Perkinson.

The 1870 Federal Census for Chesterfield Co., VA page 387 records Matthew H. Mann (45) with wife Elizabeth (49) with children Pleasant A. (21), Robert J. (15), Martha A. (14), William F. (10), William B. (9), and step daughter Elizabeth Perkinson (26). William B. (9) is actually Everett B. Mann-see below for notes on 1880 census.

The 1880 Federal Census for Matoaca, Chesterfield Co., VA page 219B records Mathew H. Mann (52) with wife Elizabeth (54) with children Martha A. (22), Willie F. (20), Everett B. (18), and Elizabeth Perkinson (33).

Matthew married Elizabeth Belcher on 13 Dec 1847 in Chesterfield Co. VA. (Elizabeth Belcher was born circa 1822 in Virginia and died after 1880 in Chesterfield Co. VA.)
