VIRGINIA BEACH - Anne Dearing Filer, 84, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, in a local hospital. Born in Suffolk, she was the daughter of the late John and Stewart Cutchin. She was a member of Great Neck Baptist Church and a former volunteer at Sentara Bayside Hospital for many years. Anne is survived by her husband, Rowland F. Filer Jr.; two sons, Frank C. Owens III and John Anthony Owens; two brothers, John A. Cutchin Jr. and wife Margaret and David W. "Bill" Cutchin and wife Ruby; sister, Betty Stewart Starrette and husband Wayne; two grandchildren, Kimberly Anne Parrish and Michael Shawn Owens; three great-grandchildren, Chelsea Megan Sharpe, Chloe Analesse Parrish and Logan Olivia Parrish; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard A. Cutchin. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, Sunday, Sept. 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel by Dr. Todd Holt. MANNS HARBOR, N.C. - Richard Anthony Cutchin Sr. of Manns Harbor died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in his home. He was 66.
Mr. Cutchin was born in Norfolk, Va., son of the late John A. Cutchin Sr. and Stewart Folk Cutchin.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Mr. Cutchin had been a truck dispatcher.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Semans Cutchin of Manns Harbor; a daughter, Lisa Cutchin Harding of Dover, Del.; two sons, Richard A. Cutchin Jr. of Federalsburg, Md., and Robert Cutchin of Dover; two stepdaughters, Mary Cooper of Dover and Marie Killoffer of Ridgway, Pa.; two sisters, Anne D. Filer and Betty C. Starrette, both of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, John A. Cutchin Jr. of Portsmouth, Va., and David W. Cutchin of Norfolk; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be 11 a.m. today in Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo. The Rev. Rick Lawrensen will officiate.
Graveside services will be 4 p.m. today in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery, Suffolk, Va. The Rev. Jonathan Palmer will officiate.
Instead of flowers, the family request donations be made to the charity of your choice.
