The 1900 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., VA, District 28, page 151B records Henry Steinhardt (May 1859 - Germany) with his wife Mary E. (March 1870 - NC/NC/NC) and children Annie L. (Dec 1886 - NC/Germany/VA) and Grace T. (July 1887 - VA/Germany/VA). It is interesting that Mary is reported to be born in NC while her daughters list their mother born in VA. Apparently Mary Elziabeth Holland has died and Henry has remarried to another Mary Elizabeth. Henry indicates that he immigrated to the USA in 1881.

The 1910 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., VA, District 13, page 166A records Henry Steinhardt (48 - Germany) with his wife Mary E. 46 - NC/NC/NC) and children Grace T. (20 - VA/Germany/NC) and Alexander L. (6 - VA/Germany/NC). This is the 2nd marriage for Henry and first for Mary E. and they report being married for 12 years. Mary indicates that she has had 1 child. Henry indicates that he immigrated to the USA in 1886.

The 1920 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., VA, District 18, page 183A records Henry Steinhardt (60 - Germany) with his wife M. Lizzie (55 - NC/NC/NC) and son Alex (16 - VA/Germany/NC) farming at the Elwood and South Quay Roads. Henry indicates that he immigrated to the USA in 1882 and was naturalized in 1890.

The 1930 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., VA, District 7, page 107B records the widow Mary E. Steinhardt (63 - NC/NC/NC) and son Alec (26 - VA/Germany/NC) farming.

Mary married Henry Steinhardt on 11 Feb 1886 in Nansemond Co, VA. (Henry Steinhardt was born in May 1859 in Germany and died circa 1925 in Nansemond Co, VA.)
