ELVA M. THOMAS
Elva M. Thomas, 91, formerly of Dover, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Kinkora Pythian Home, Duncannon.
She was born Jan. 18, 1914 in New Cumberland to the late Clyde Shuler and Mary Agnes (Forry) Hale.
She retired as a seamstress from Danskin and had worked as a licensed practical nurse at Harrisburg Hospital; was a 1932 graduate of New Cumberland High School; and a former member of Mt. Royal Full Gospel Church.
She was he widow of Harry E. Thomas.
Surviving are three daughters, Harriet E. Findley of Mt. Holly Springs, Dorothy L. Balash of Davenport, Fla., and Lois E. Forbes of Newport; three stepdaughters, Marcella Albert of Dillsburg, Sylvia Laughman of New Oxford and Pauline Spangler of Dillsburg; two stepsons, Leroy Thomas of Manchester and Dale Thomas of Dillsburg; two sisters, Dorothy Canning and Louise Barr, both of Carlisle; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard B. Platts, and a son, Richard L. Platts.
Services were held March 19 in Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, York. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
