Thomas Francis enlisted as a private on July 18, 1861 in Company E, 15th Infantry Regiment Virginia. He was wounded on 16 May 1864 at Drewry's Bluff, VA and on the muster rolls on 15 December 1864. He served faithfully throughout the remainder of the war and surrendered with Company E, 15th Infantry Regiment Virginia on April 9, 1865 in Appomattox Court House, VA.
