Christopher C. Hailey (Haily) enlisted in Company K, 2nd Cavalry Regiment Ohio as a Private on September 7, 1862 at the age of 19. He was promoted to Full Corporal on November 14, 1862 and later promoted to Full Sergeant. He was taken POW on June 28, 1864 at Stony Creek Depot, VA (aka Sappony Church) and mustered out of Company K, 2nd Cavalry Regiment Ohio on June 7, 1865 in Columbus, OH.

On Oct 30, 1897, a Civil War Pension Application was filed on behalf of Myrta A. Hailey, a minor. Christpher C. Hailey is listed as the soldier having served in Co. K of the 2nd Ohio Calvary as well as Co. B of the 8th Ohio Cavalry.
