The 1850 Federal Census for the Northern District, Pittsylvania Co., Va. taken November 11, 1850, page 253B records David F. (32) and Avaria (sic) (20) Law and children James (3) and Augustin (1/12). David is a farmer with real estate valued at "blank:" but does own 19 slaves.

The 1860 Federal Census for Division 1, Cherokee, Alabama, page 257B, dated July 2, 1860 records David (41 - VA) and Avarilla (31 - VA) Law with children James 13 - VA), Augustin (9 - VA), Wm (7 - VA), and Nancy (2 - VA). David is a farmer with real estate valued at $2,500 and a personal estate valued at $2,500 including 1 slave, a 15 year old male.

The 1870 Federal Census for Township 12 Range 10, Cherokee, Alabama, Amberson P. O., page 338A, dated Sept. 19, 1870 records D. F. Law (51 - VA) and his wife Ann R. Law (41 - VA) and children John (24 - VA), Asa S. (20 - VA), William (16 - VA), Nancy A. (13 - VA), and Jane R. (9 - VA). David is a farmer with real estate valued at "blank" and a personal estate val7ued at $250.

The 1880 Federal Census for Cherokee Co., Alabama, District 28, page 405B, dated June 15, 1880 records David F. (61 - VA/VA/VA) and Ava R. (49 - VA/VA/VA) Law and children William P. Law (26 - VA) and Julia R. Law (18 - AL). David works in a Flour Mill.

The 1900 Federal Census for Piedmont, Calhoun Co., Alabama, District 33, page 140B, dated June 18, 1900 records Avarilla Law (July 1827 - VA/VA/VA) living with her son, William P. Law (Jan 1846 - VA/VA/VA) and his wife Viola A. Law (May 1870 - AL/AL/AL) and children Thomas D. (Aug 1887 - AL), William P. (May 1889 - AL), Irene J. (Aug 1891 - AL), Herbert S. (Aug 1894 - AL), James M. (Feb 1897 - AL), and Inez (Oct 1899 - AL). Also in the household is mother-in-law Sarah McCarley (Aug 1845 - AL/VA/SC).

Avarilla married David F. Law, son of James Franklin Law and Unknown, on 25 Oct 1845 in Henry Co, VA. (David F. Law was born on 20 Nov 1818 in Pittsylvania Co., Virginia and died on 21 Aug 1894 in Piedmont, Calhoun Co., Alabama.)
