The 1860 United States Federal Census, Pennsylvania, Lehigh Co., Hanover Township, page 103 records Joseph (58) and Ann (57) Lichtenwalter with children James (20), Angheline (18), Tilghman (16).
According to the Anniversary History of Lehigh County, Joseph was a Farmer in Northampton and in 1831 he moved to Hanover Township in Lehigh County, where he farmed 112 acres until he retired. At the time of this publication Harvey Buss owned the land. Joseph served as School Director and also held the office of Deacon and Elder in the Schoenersville Church. Teh book may be referring to Christ Lutheran Church.
Joseph married Anna Catherine Michael. (Anna Catherine Michael was born on 24 Jan 1803 in Pennsylvania and died on 20 Jun 1885.)
