He is medium height an slender build with grey eyes and black hair, slightly bald.

The 1920 Federal Census for Anniston, Ward 5, Calhoun Co., Alabama, District 30, page 180A, dated January 7, 1920 records Virgil H. (34 - AL/AL/AL) and Nareyis J. (32 - VA/VA/VA) Hawkins with their children Helen V. (7 - AL) and Hillman V. (5 - AL) rooming at the home of the physician Wilbur M. Slaughter at 1124 Leighton Avenue. Virgil is a Minister.

The 1930 Federal Census for Montevallo, Shelby Co., Alabama, District 6, page 180A, dated January 7, 1920 records Virgil H. (45 - AL/AL/Mississippi) and Nareye J. (43 - VA/VA/VA) Hawkins with their children Helen V. (17 - AL) and Virgil H. Jr. (15 - AL) living Middle Street. Virgil is a Minister of the Methodist Church.
