Obituary for: Mrs. Abbie Adkins Lawrence died last night [July 26, 1970] in Memorial Hospital after being in declining health for four months.
Mrs. Lawrence was a native of Callands, born June 11, 1901, a daughter of the late Achilis Nathanial Adkins and Ida B. Ramsey Adkins. In 1919 she married Jim Lawrence who died in 1954. Most of her life was spent in the Callands community where she was a member of the Christian Tabernacle.
She is survuved by six sons, James L. Lawrence, of Rocky Mount, Wayne Lawrence of Danville, J. E. Lawrence of Martinsville, Robert Randolph Lawrence of Chatham, Nathanial H. Lawrence of Callands, and Leland M. Lawrence of Chatham; two daughters Mrs. Roy L. King of Halifax, and Miss Kitty L. Lawrence of Raleigh, N. C.
... Interment will be at the family cemetery.

Nathaniel married Ida Bell Ramsey circa 1892 in Virginia. (Ida Bell Ramsey was born on 17 Sep 1874 in Virginia, died on 16 Feb 1933 in Pittsylvania Co., VA and was buried on 18 Feb 1933 in Family Cemetery, Franklin Co., VA.) The cause of her death was Metrial Regurgatation (sic) [Perhaps Mitral Regurgitation or leaky mitral heart valve].
