bullet  General Notes:

The 1870 Federal Census for Subdivision North of the Dan River, Pittsylvania Co., VA, Chatham P. O., page 347B records Akellas (25) and Ann (30) Adkins with children Willia (6), Daniel (4), and Akelles (2/12).

The 1880 Federal Census for Callands, Pittsylvania Co., Va., Dist 164, page 57A records Nathaniel (32) and Ann (39) Adkinds (sic) with children Willia A. (15), Davie L. (12), Cillie (10), Kemper (7), Ada (5), William T. (3), and Nancy J. (3/12). Nathaniel is a farmer and apparently did well in that the 1900 census indicates he has moved to Franklin County. Actually, in 1900, he is now on a rather large farm and just a few miles west of the Museville Adkins' area in Pittsylvania County just inside the Franklin County line:
The 1900 Federal Census for Dickinson District, Franklin Co., VA, District 36, page 239A, dated June 1, 1900 records Nathaniel (Nov 1847) and Ann (July 1840) Adkins with children William T. (July 1878), Janie (Feb 1882), and Hamilton R. (Jan 1885). Nathaniel and Ann have been married for 36 years and have had 10 children of whom 8 are still living.

The 1910 Federal Census for Union Hall District, Franklin Co., VA, District 47, page 256A records the widow Jemima A. (indexed as Jennins A at ancestry.com) Adkins living with her son James K. Adkins (37) and his wife Nannie E. Adkins (35) and their children Samuel R. (16), Fannie B. (14), Pearl M. (13), Lelia M. (11), Ethel D. (6), Nannie E. (4), and Virginia N. (0). James and Nannie have been married for 17 years and have had 9 children of whom 7 are still living. Jemima has had 6 children of whom 5 are still living.
