August 31:
... I have received permission from my Mother & her siblings to give you my records. Mom met her cousin's daughter, who is now doing research on Ancestory.com & looking at census records. She found the name of Lewis G. Stone, so I Googled that name & found your website.
... As far as we know, the Jesse Turner Stone, Sr. family moved from Martinsville, VA to Newtown Square, PA in 1920(?) for better work opportunities. Jesse Sr. worked on the Broadlawn Farm. After Jesse Sr. died, his wife & some other family members moved back to VA.
Jesse Turner Stone, Jr. worked at a Soda Fountain in Philadelphia, PA in 1920(?). Then he worked for Philadelphia Fire Retardant Co., installing Fire Retardant Doors, from 1921 or 1923 until his death.
Jesse Jr. eloped with Katherine Ella Starks on 1-12-1924 in Elkton, MD. They lived in Philadelphia, Newtown Square, Larchmont, & Elwyn (all in PA) interchangeably until 1935. They stayed in Newtown Square, PA until 1956 when moving to Wawa, PA.
My parents, brother & I have always lived in PA. My various Aunts, Uncle & cousins live in Brazil, Canada, DE, FL, GA, ME, MD, PA, & WY. I have only been to Great Falls, Washington DC, Busch Gardens & Williamsburg in VA.
I am also attaching a photo of the Stone family: (l to r, standing) Marvin, Jesse Turner, Jr. & Dorothy "Dolly" -and- (l to r, sitting) Jesse Turner, Sr., Arthur Guy & Martha Harriet/Harry. We were told that Martha was pregnant with Lucille.

bullet  Research Notes:

From an Oct 8, 2009 email:
Bo,
We have the explanation for why Jesse T. Stone,Sr. is missing from 1910 Census record with Mattie and the children, as he is listed as a patient at Southwestern State Hospital (aka - Southwestern Virginia Mental Hospital), page 6, line 66 in the 1910 Census for that facility, location Marion, Smyth County, VA. In 1908 the hospital added a Tuberculosis Ward, we don't know the reason for his stay.
He died at the Norristown Pennsylvania State Hospital in 1934. We know that was a mental hospital, but my Grandmother Katherine E. Starks Stone always said he should not have been there.
