Raymond Allen Daughtrey, Sr., 79, passed away August 21, 2013 in Southampton Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was the son of the late Sadie H. and Edwin P. Daughtrey.
Mr. Daughtrey was the owner and operator of Ray's Tire Service in Holland for many years. He was a member of Holland Baptist Church where he was a decon for many years, and a member of the Holland District Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy Baines Daughtrey; sons, Raymond Allen Daughtrey, Jr. of Greenville, NC, Robert E. Daughtrey and wife, Cathy, of Carrsville, Jonathan B. Daughtrey of Franklin; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Ann O'Brien and Gladys Atkins; brother, Edwin P. Daughtrey, Jr. and wife, Brenda; and many nieces, nephews, and also many friends.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11:00 am in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington Street, Suffolk by the Rev. Tim Webb with burial at Holland Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Friday, August 23 from 7 to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations to Holland Baptist Church, 6519 Holland Road, Suffolk, VA 23437 or to Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, VA 23439.
