Obituary for EDWIN PARKER DAUGHTREY
FRANKLIN - A funeral service for Edwin Parker Daughtrey was conducted Wednesday at 2:30 in the Chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the
Dr. William T. Scott of Elon College, N.C., a former pastor of Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
Pallbearers were J.F. Watson, C. Harry Jones, Edwin Beale Jr., Robert Gardner, Emmett W. Drake, R.H. Allen, Ben Blair and R.L. Allen, Ben Blair and R.L. Turner.
Daughtrey, 62, died Monday morning in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
He was retired foreman of the former Seaboard Air Line Railway.
A native of Nansemond County, he was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church.
He was the husband of Mrs. Beulah Hare Daughtrey and a son of Abraham P. and Mrs. Sarah Ann Porter Daughtrey of Nansemond County.
Besides his widow, surviving are four sons, Mills P. Daughtrey, Thomas E. Daughtrey, and Edwin P. Daughtrey, Jr. of Franklin, and Raymond A. Daughtrey
of Holland; four daughters, Mrs. William G. O'Brien, Mrs. William A. Atkins, Mrs. Reuben E. Story, and Mrs. Fennon Turner of Franklin; two brothers, Clarence T. Daughtrey of Carrsville and J.P. Daughtrey Sr. of Conway, N.C.; a sister, Mr. Harvey Council of Holland; and 25 grandchildren.
