The 1850 Federal Census for Kentucky, Harlan Co., District 1, page 45A records Elizabeth (8 - KY) living with her parents John (45 - KY) and Mary (43 - KY) Slusher and siblings William (18 - KY), Mary (16 - KY), Martha (15 - KY), Eleanor Slusher (12 - KY), and John (7 - KY). Next door is Eleanor's brother Wilkenson Slusher (20 - KY) and his wife Mary (19 - KY) and their son Robert (1) as well as Jacob (23 - KY) and Emily (19 - KY) Slasher and their children Mary (4), Lucy (3), and Charity (1). John Slasher is a farmer with real estate valued at $600.

Elizabeth married William Broughton, son of John Broughton and Sarah Payne, circa 1857 in Kentucky. (William Broughton was born circa 1832 in Kentucky and died circa 1871 in Kentucky.)
