(June 1855 - NC/NC/NC) with children Alvis J. (June 1874), Louise E. (Aug 1877), Susie (Nov 1879), Taylor Z. (May 1882), John D. (May 1884), and Bettie C. (March 1891). Zach and Bettie have been married for 27 years.

The 1900 Federal Census for Holy Neck District, Nansemond Co., Virginia, District 26, page 106B, dated June 6, 1900 records Ava L. Turner (Jan 1874 - NC/NC/NC) as the niece living with the widowed Sue Jones (April 1847 - NC/NC/VA) and her daughter Ruth Jones (April 1888 - VA/VA/NC).

Ava married Vernon Edward Rawls, son of Edwin S. Rawls and Cornelia K. Norfleet, on 26 Dec 1901 in Nansemond Co., VA. (Vernon Edward Rawls was born on 12 Jul 1878 in Nansemond Co, VA, died in 1953 in Nansemond Co., VA and was buried in Liberty Springs Christian Church Cemetery, Nansemond Co., VA.)
