bullet  General Notes:

Lewis [Louis] appears to have married and moved to Georgia, then Florida. He owned and operated a bicycle shop for many years.

The 1900 Federal Census for Valdosta, Lowndes Co., Georgia, District 70 records L. H. Strum (Mar 1862) and his wife Mrs. Strum (Aug 1870) with children Lewis (Jan 1890) and St. Alban (Sept 1899).

The 1910 Federal Census for St. Petersburg, Hillsborough Co., Florida, District 20 records Louis H. Strum (48) and his wife Margaret L. (42).

The 1920 Federal Census for St. Petersburg, Pinellas Co., Florida, District 133 records Louis H. Strum (60) and his wife Loula M. (60) with son Alban D. (20). Loula M. is the same person as Margaret L. in that the 1910 and 1920 census record her birth state as North Carolina and her parents as from Alabama and Virginia.

The 1930 Federal Census for St. Petersburg, Pinellas Co., Florida, District 20, page 66A, dated April 11, 1930 records Louis H. Strum (70 - NC/NC/NC) and his wife Ruth E. (50 - Michigan/Georgia/ Michigan). He was first married at 28 and she at 45, thus Ruth is not the first wife for Louis.

The 1945 Florida State Census records L. H. (85 - NC) and Ruth (65 - Mich) Strum living at 156 16th Avenue in St. Petersburg, Pinellas Co., Florida.

bullet  Research Notes:

From an email dated May 5, 2012:
I discovered your web page by Googling William H. Strum, my great grandfather. All of your information agrees with what I have from a family letter from the 1940's and other research. I have one item to add to your Louis H. Strum, my great uncle, page. He was born March 9, 1860, died in 1953 sometime after his 93rd birthday. Yes he was married 3 times. His first wife was Dora Lee Rahsey [Ramsey]. They were married 14 Apr 1889 in Valdosta, Lowndes County, GA. His first son was Louie Willard born 9 Jan 1890. His second wife was Margaret Loula Parker b. 1872 d. 04 Jan 1923 in St. Petersburg, FL. She is mother of Alban Douglas b. 1899.
LHS shows up in the 1885 Florida census as a boarder with the Griffith family in In Leon County (Tallasshee) FL. Louie W became a Florida Supreme Court Justice. Al D was a famous power boat racer. LHS did indeed own a bicycle shop in Talahassee and he was Captian of the Cycling Club until he move family to St Pete in 1906.
I have located photos of LHS with the high wheel bicycles and portraites, one of LWS also if you are interested I will give you the sources. I just recently visited the grave site of William H. Strum, his wife Mary Ann Harris and A child Alfred L. Strum at York Chapel in Nash County, NC.
Regards, William Lee Strum
