John H. Pemberton
- Born: Cir 1815, Virginia

The 1850 Federal Census for Danville City, Pittysylvania Co., Virginia, page 162B records James [John] (36) and Mary A. (33) Pemberton. James is listed as a Clerk. Also in the household is Elizabeth Worsham (34).
It is of interest that the 1850 Federal Census for Halifax Co., Va. page 75 records Thomas (49) and Elizabeth (44) Worsham as Landlords or a Tavern (& B????? can not read). Also in the household are Margaret Ayres (45), Elizabeth H. Worham (24), William Worsham (23), Thomas R. Worsham (9), and Martha Worsham (6) among others at the "Tavern". Also of interest is that James [John] (36) and Mary A. (33) Pemberton (listed above) are living next door to a William Ayres (45-Tobacconist) ... possibly a relationship between these people (ie Worsham / Ayres). There is a record a Thomas Worsham married to Elizabeth Ayres in Pittsylvania Co., Va. on June 1, 1840. Perhaps Thomas and Mary are brother and sister and Margaret Ayres is their mother.
The 1860 Federal Census for Southern District, Danville City, Pittysylvania Co., Virginia, page 145 records John H. (45) and Mary H. (32) Pemberton with daughter Sallie B. Pemberton (7). John is a Tobacconist with real estate valured at $4,500 and personal property at $500. Elizabeth Worhsam (55) (see 1850 census above) is on page 143 of the Danville census. In that household is Margaret Ayres (67) and Martha L. Worsham (14).
