1999 email communication regarding James Paul Ellis ... ELLIS - ELLIS - possible HUNTER connection I am writing this for a James Paul Ellis who is 71 years old now. b. July 28, 1928 His father James Shirley Ellis was born in Holland [Nansemond Co., VA] on Feb 22, 1904. He died at the age of 25 in an auto accident in Dinwiddie County on Sep 8, 1929. His wife Frankie Louise (Sears - maiden name) died a few years after that, leaving James P. Ellis to be raised in the Richmond Orphanage. He has always wondered about his family on his fathers side. His father James is buried in Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg and that is where I was able to obtain this info. The 1930 Federal Census for Petersburg, VA, District 5, page records James P. Ellis (1 7/12) living with his widowed grand mother, Annie L. Sears (56 - NC/NC/NC), and widowed mother, Franklie L. Ellis (19 - SC/NC/NC) renting at 115 Wythe Street. Annie indicates that she was first married at age 21. Frankie does not indicate an age. Also in the household are David Sears (17 - SC) and Edward E. Sears (11 - NC).
