The 1900 Federal Census for Carroll Township, Perry Co., PA, District 150, page 49A records John H. Morrison (Nov 1878) boarding in the home of John (Sept 1832) and Mary Jane (May 1845) Sheriff. Also in the household are children John A. Sheriff (Sept 1877), Harry E. Sheriff (Dec 1879), George H. Sheriff (Aug 1883), and Franklin P. Sheriff (June 1886) as well as grand daughter Minnie M. Sheriff (Jan 1896). John and Mary Jane Sheriff have been married for 41 years and have had 13 children of whom 9 are still living. Next door is David (March 1849) and Maria McCallister (April 1846) with their children Charley (Sept 1874), David (Sept 1876), Mary E. (Feb 1881), Christian L. (Oct 1883), Cleveland G. (May 1886), and Ester Viola (Aug 1888). David and Maria have been married for 31 years and have had 10 children of whom 9 are still living. It should be noted that John H. Morrison's mother is recorded in Iowa census records as Maria Sheriff (see notes on his wife, Pearl Goudy) and his mother-in-law is recorded as Maria McCallister in several records (see notes on his brother-in-law David Goudy and notes for his wife, Pearl Doudy). This could be a coincidence, however, David McCallister is likely John H. Morrison's uncle and John and Mary Jane Sheriff would be John H. Morrison's grand parents. This Township is also where Pearl Goudy and her family are living ... just one page over in this census record.

The 1925 Iowa Census indicates that John H. Morrison's parents are John Morrison and Mary Sheriff (see general notes for his wife, Pearl Goudy). The 1880 census below indicates that John H. Morrison's grand parents are John and Mary Sheriff.

The 1880 Federal Census for Carroll Township, Perry Co., PA, District 127, page 49A records John Morison (sic) (1 - listed as daughter's son) in the home of John (48) and Mary (39) Sheriff. Also in the household are children Sarah (15), Andrew (13), William (11), Minnie (9), Martha (6), John A. (2), and Harvey E. (6/12). Next door is David McCalister (31) with his wife Maria (34) and children Anna M. (12), George (9), Franklin (8), Charles (6), David (3), and John (1). Next door to David is Mollie McCalister (61) with her son-in-law Heny L. Holmes (22) and his wife Anna C. [McCalister] (19). John H. Morrison will marry Pearl Goudy in 1910 ... Pearl's mother is Maria McCallister who is the wife of John Goudy and sister of David McCallister.

The 1870 Federal Census for Carroll Township, Perry Co., Pennsylvania, New Bloomfield P. O., page 18B records David McAllister (sic) (22) with his wife Mariah (24) and their daughter Annie M. (2). Nearby is John Goudy and family ... John's wife is David's sister, Maria McCallister.

John married Pearl Goudy, daughter of John Goudy and Maria(h) Catherine McCallister, circa 1901 in Big Creek Township, Black Hawk Co., Iowa. (Pearl Goudy was born in Feb 1884 in Perry Co., PA, died in 1936 in Big Creek Township, Black Hawk Co., Iowa and was buried in Westview Cemetery, Big Creek Township, Black Hawk Co., Iowa.)
