VIRGINIA BEACH - Willie Stewart Doughtie , 80, died April 30, 2003. She was a native of Norfolk, born on Oct. 18, 1922, to Leigh and Louise Stewart. She graduated from Maury High School in 1940. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Cecil Doughtie Sr.; her daughter, Peggy; and a sister, Edith Ryan.

She is survived by her son, Cecil Doughtie and his wife, Mary, of Virginia Beach; her daughter, Louise Hayes and her husband, Jimmy, of Chesapeake; a son, Carlton Doughtie and his wife, Phyllis, of Florida; a son, Paul Doughtie and his wife, Daneen, of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Dorothy Whitehurst of Norfolk and Jean Massengill of Norfolk; two brothers, Leigh Stewart of Norfolk and Herbert Stewart of Alexandria, Va.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Khedive Shriner's Hospital Transportation Fund, 645 Woodlake Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23320. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, is handling arrangements.

Willie married Cecil Maurice Doughtie Sr., son of Wise Carlton Doughtie and Sarah (Sadie) Margaret Norfleet, circa 1934. (Cecil Maurice Doughtie Sr. was born on 6 Nov 1923 in Nansemond Co, VA, died on 10 Feb 1994 in Virginia Beach, VA. and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, VA.)
