1870 Federal Census, Virginia, Pittsylvania Co., North of Dan River page 357 records Mastin Adkins (51) with wife Mary A. (47) and children Nancy (14), John S. (12), Lucinda (9), and Martha S. (7). Spencer (28) and Elizabeth F. (30) Adkins with their children Mary E. (2) and Andrew J. (1) are living very near by.

Mastin and Emma have been married for 9 years and have had 3 children all of whom are still living. Of course, Essie may or may not be one of their children but I will list her as a daughter of Emma.
