Gertrude Wartham (Swain) Fowler, 95, of Ridgeley, formerly of Morton, Pa., died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at the Dawnview Center in Fort Ashby.
Born Aug. 26, 1909, in Southport, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Richard Clyde and Sallie (Blackwell) Swain. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bowman Fowler in 1981; one brother; and four sisters.
Mrs. Fowler had been a reference clerk at the University of Pennsylvania Library for more than 20 years. She was a member of Kedron United Methodist Church, where she had belonged to the Methodist Women's Society; Philadelphia Chapter, D.A.R., and AARP.
Survivors include one son, Frank B. Fowler Jr. and wife, Connie, of Ridgeley; one daughter, Mrs. Sally F. Goodavage of Chloe, W.Va.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be conducted from the Kedron United Methodist Church, 16 S. Morton Ave., Morton, Pa., on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Joan Charles officiating. Interment will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall, Pa.
