General Notes:
Original clipping in the family collection of Clara Garrett Fountain of Danville, VA, Nov 2008: Obituary BLACKWELL - Mrs. Sallie Blackwell, wife of Mr. J.P. Blackwell, died Oct. 24th, 1893, of Typhoid Pneumonia at her home near Townesville, N. C. She leaves a devoted husband and seven children, together with numerous relations and friends to mourn her loss. She was forty two years old. She joined the Methodist Church at the age of twelve; ever afterwards she lived the life of a consistent Christian. She was gentle and kind to everyone. All that entered her doors met with cordial welcome and everything was done for their comfort and enjoyment. The sick and poor will mourn and well they may, for none within, her knowledge were without substantive tokens of her sympathy and love. I might say much more of her excellent qualities but I forbear. "Those who knew her best loved her most" and none of us need desire a better epitaph than this. Her bereaved family have the sympathy of all. A FRIEND
