Original clipping in the family collection of Clara Garrett Fountain of Danville, VA, Nov 2008:
John Pomphrett Webb, infant son of J. P. and Sallie G. Blackwell died in Vance Co., NC, on Oct 8th 1881, aged 4 months and 25 days. Little Webb was a beautiful, interesting child. The frost of death nipped this lively bud when we were not expecting it. This second visit of the angel of death, leaves our hearts sad, but we el that while this sweet Cherub cannot come back to us, we may go to him.
We know he is safe of the farther shore,
Where all the ransomed and angels be;
Over the river, the mystic river,
My child, my darling, is waiting for me.
