bullet  General Notes:

Thomas' surname is reported to be Lebozier in an 1880s bio written about Rolandus Brubaker, however, census records have Labezius.

The 1850 Federal Census for Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA, page 136B records Thomas Lebezius (25 - PA) living with Samuel Cramer (35) and family.

The 1860 Federal Census for Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA, Bethesda P. O., page 493 records Thomas Labasius (38 - PA) living (boarding?) with Mary Ann Patton (38 - PA) and her daughter Emma Patton (9). Thomas is a Merchant with a personal estate of $450 and Mary Ann Patton has a personal estate of $200.

The 1870 Federal Census for Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA, Bethesda P. O., page 2B records Thomas Labezius (47 - PA) with his wife Mary Ann [Patton?] (47 - PA) and son Harry (3). Thomas is a Carpenter with a personal estate of $600.

By 1880 Mary Ann Collins Labezius has moved on ... divorce or death ... and Thomas has married Susan Brubaker: The 1880 Federal Census for Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA, District 169, page 397A, dated June 11, 1880 records Thomas Labezius (57 - PA) with his wife Susan [Brubaker] Labezius (45 - PA) and son with Mary Ann, Harry (13). Also in the household is step daughter Laura Cully (20 - PA) [Laura Cully is Susan's daughter by her first husband, William Cully].

See general notes on Susan Brubaker for 1900 & 1910 census data for Thomas.

In an email dated March 28, 2010, Richard Aurand Sherer wrote the following:
A Bing search for Labezius brought me to your family tree and your entry about Thomas Labezius. I can fill in a little info if you're interested, and hope you'll be willing to share some with me.

Thomas J. Labezius, b. 22 May 1823, d. 5 Nov 1914, married my 3rd great grandmother, Mary Ann Patton in 1861 (sources differ on the exact date: either Sept. 12 or Dec. 11. Mary Ann was the daughter of William Collins and Elizabeth Mortimer, and the widow of James Patton. She died 9 Apr 1871 and is buried next to Thomas at the Bethesda Methodist Church Cemetery in Martic Twp, Lancaster Co. Thomas and Mary Ann had two children: William, b. 6 Jul 1862, d. 13 Sep 1865; and Harry, b. 16 Aug 1866, d. 15 Nov 1947. After her death, Thomas married Susan Jane (Brubaker) Cully, widow of William Cully. (You have the sequence of Mary Ann's marriages reversed on your Web page.)

But here's where I have a mystery: I found a record showing that Thomas Labezius married Rebecca Collins, 19 Oct 1854 in Trinity Church. The citation includes the note that both were from Martic Twp. I know nothing for certain about Rebecca Collins, but there are some intriguing possibilities. First, there was a Rebecca Collins, age 14, living with her mother Margaret in Lancaster North East Ward in the 1850 census. They apparently are roomers in the house of Wm. B. Fordney.

I have a series of letters from a Collins descendant who tried to trace the family history around 1900. In one of the letters, Thomas Collins (no dates given), the son of Revolutionary War Sgt. Thomas Collins, is shown with two children: John (or Jonathan) and Rebecca (no dates given). There also is a mention of the fact that Jonathan died in the Mexican War, and I found documentation on Footnote.com showing he died in San Angel, Mexico, on 14 Feb 1848. Rebecca Collins who married Thomas J. Labezius could well have been his sister, which would make her a first cousin to Mary Ann (Collins) Patton.

I don't know what your relation is to the Collins/Labezius line, but I would be interested in seeing the information you site from Rolandus Brubaker, as well as any other information you might have.
