bullet  General Notes:

The 1850 Federal Census for Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA, page 130B, dated Sept 25, 1850 records Mary Ann Patton (26 - PA) and her husband James Patton (34 - PA) with their daughter, Emma Patton (3/12), living with her parents William (59 - PA) and Elizabeth (64) Collins. William is a forgeman.

In an email dated March 28, 2010, Richard Aurand Sherer wrote the following:
Mary Ann was the daughter of William Collins and Elizabeth Mortimer, and the widow of James Patton. She died 9 Apr 1871 and is buried next to Thomas at the Bethesda Methodist Church Cemetery in Martic Twp, Lancaster Co. Thomas and Mary Ann had two children: William, b. 6 Jul 1862, d. 13 Sep 1865; and Harry, b. 16 Aug 1866, d. 15 Nov 1947.
See geenral notes for Thomas Labezius for the text of the complete email.
Also from Richard:
Emma Patton is my great great grandmother, and I do have her Bible. A lot of my dates come from that, but I won't swear to them: For example, the Bible shows that my grandmother's Uncle Ralph was born in 1882, but he was 2 years old in the 1880 census. The 1900 census says he was born Dec 1877. Go figure.
Emma married John F. Yost, a doctor from York County (almost swimming distance across the river if the Susquehanna weren't so rough). They had 3 kids, 2 of whom lived to adulthood. Dr. Yost's sister Louisa married William Wentz from a prominent Martic family, so the York County folks pretty well took over the township. lol
Anyway, Emma's father, James, died of typhoid fever before his 36th birthday. He ran a general store in Bethesda, and Mary Ann took it over after his death. William, Mary Ann's father, died in 1853. So, in 1860, we find Thomas Lebezius sharing living space with Mary Ann. I also found newspaper ads listing him as a merchant, so he was helping out in the store. They were married in 1861 and Willie was born 10 months later.

Note: Mary Ann Patton's daughter, Emma Patton, married John F. Yost [from Cemetery Records of Martic Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania By Jenne Renkin, page 44].
