The WWI Draft Registration Card for Joseph Stokes dated June 5, 1917 records his date of birth as Nov. 27, 1893 in waht looks to be Colerain Township. He is currently married and living in Quarryville, Martic Township, Lancaster Co., PA. His physical description is short and slender with blue eyes and brown hair.

The WWII Draft Registration Card (for men born on or after April 28, 1877 and on or before February 16, 1897) for Joseph Stokes dated April 27, 1942 lists his date of birth as Nov. 30, 1893 in Belbank, Lancaster Co., PA. He is living with his wife, Mrs. Joseph Stokes, at 11 Water Street, Christiana, Lancaster Co., PA. He is working at Christiana Machine Shop and his physical description is 6' 0", 200 lbs with green eyes, brown hair and dark complexion.

Since there is such a great difference in the physical description on the WWI and WWII records then these are probably two different people even though the birth dates are so similar. Earlier census records indicate several Joseph Stokes born ca 1893 living in Lancaster Co., PA. I have found no other likely census records for Joseph Stokes other than the one married to Martha.

Joseph married Martha circa 1917 in Lancaster Co., PA. (Martha was born on 28 Sep 1896 in Pennsylvania and died in Jan 1986 in Christiana, Lancaster Co., PA.)
