  General Notes:

The 1900 Federal Census for Lancaster City, Ward 5, Lancaster Co., PA, District 52, page 25A, dated June 2, 1900 records Margaret Eyde (March 1871) living with her parents Eli H. (March 1843 - NJ/NJ/NJ) and Susan (Oct 1848 - PA/PA/PA) Eyde and siblings Belle C. (March 1873), John C. (Aug 1874), Mirian (Oct 1876), William M. (Dec 1879), Abner (Dec 1881), and Anna (June 1883) at 422 West Walnut Street. Eli is employed as a Clerk while Margaret as a saleslady, Belle as a book keeper, John as a Clerk, Mirian as a Telephone girl, and William as an Ass't Baggage Master. Eli and Susan have been married for 31 years and have had 10 children of whom 8 are still living. This appears to be "our" Margaret Eydes in that here father is born in New Jersey and is consistent with later census records ... see general notes on her husband, John Maurice Marsh, for 1910, 1920, and 1930 census facts.

The 1880 Federal Census for Marietta, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, District 137, page 339A, dated June 16, 1880 records Margaret Eyde (9) living with her parents Eli H. (37 - NJ/NJ/NJ) and Susan (31 - PA/PA/PA) Eyde and siblings Clayton S. (10), Belle C. (7), John C. (5), Miriam (3), and William (5/12). Eli is a telephone operator.

Thus Margaret appears to actually be born in 1871, not ca 1877 as is indicated in census records after her marriage. One speculates that she merely shaved a few years off her age ... perhaps to become the same age as her husband.
