In November 2008 Wilma Fauth Jones sent the following copy from a book on the Alexander Family of Lancaster, PA published ca 1922:
[This book records the date of birth for Maurice Marsh as April 7, 1872 and the WWI Draft Registration records his date of birth as April 9, 1877.]
From the book:
Maurice Marsh was born April 7, 1872. He was educated in the common schools and in Millersville Normal School where he graduated about 1895. After finishing this preparatory training he taught for a number of years in the Public Schools of Lancaster County. He quit teaching in order to accept a position as traveling Salesman, which profession he now follows. He lives on Elm Street, Lancaster.
He married Miss Margaret Eyde, December 10, 1908.
They have one child: - Rebecca Marsh born September 1, 1909.

The 1910 Federal Census for Lancaster City, Ward 5, Lancaster Co., PA, District 72, page 199A, dated April 26, 1910 records John (32 - PA/PA/PA) and Margaret (34 - PA/NJ/PA) Marsh with their daughter, Rebecca Marsh (4/12) living at 241 Elm Street. John is a traveling salesman.

The WWI Draft Registration Card for John Maurice Marsh records his date of birth as April 9, 1877. He is married and living at 241 Elm Street in Lancaster City, PA. He signs his name "John Maurice Marsh"; however, he lists his wife as Mrs. John M. Marsh.

The 1920 Federal Census for Lancaster City, Ward 5, Lancaster Co., PA, District 60, page 122B records John M. Marsh (42) with his wife Margaret R. Marsh (42) and daughter M. Rebecca Marsh (10) living at 241 Elm Street. John is employed as a Commercial Salesman for a Varnish Company.

The 1930 Federal Census for Clifton, Marblehead Town, Essex Co., Massachusetts, District 193, page 5A, dated April 7, 1930 records John M. (52 - PA/PA/PA) and Margaret R. (53 - PA/NJ/PA) Marsh with their daughter Margaret R. Marsh (20 - PA) living at 12 West Street. John has been married to Margaret for 21 years and is employed as a Merchant in Paint and Oils.

The 1936 through 1946 Polk's Marblehead Directories [Massachusetts] at ancestry.com list John M. Marsh living at 12 West Street (from 243 Humphrey to 138 Tedesco).

The 1940 Federal Census for Clifton, Marblehead Town, Essex Co., Massachusetts, District 5-237, page 3563B, dated April 22, 1940 records John M. (63 - PA) and Margaret R. (63 - PA) Marsh with their daughter Margaret R. Marsh (30 - PA) living at 12 West Street. John has completed 3 years of college and is employed as a Ceneral Salesmanger for a Paint Company earning $5,000 working 52 weeks during the last year. Mrs. Marsh has completed 4 years of high school and is not working while her daughter, Margaret, has completed 3 years of college and is employed as a Public School Kindergarden Teacher earning $1,050 working 40 weeks during the last year.
