The 1900 Federal Census for Franklin, Southampton Co., VA, District 60, page 136A, dated June 29, 1900, records Eddie Cross (Sept 1867) with his wife Berta (Sept 1875) and children Gary (June 1892), Ollie (Sept 1894), Clyde (Dec 1897), Harvie (Aug 1899). Also in the household are Eddie's widowed father, Josiah Cross (Jan 1830) and Eddie's never married aunt Elizabeth T. Cross (Oct 1834). Next door is Eddie's aunt Mary B. Daughtrey (July 1812) with Mary's widowed daughter Ann Crumpler (March 1839) and Mary's never married children Abraham Daughtrey (July 1850) and Martha D. Daughtrey (July 1850).
