The 1910 Federal Census for Franklin, Southampton Co., VA, District 60, page 136A, dated June 29, 1910, records Jesse T. (44 - VA/VA/VA) and India (42 - VA/VA/VA) Edwards with children Ryland (14), Claud (12), Lena (10), Georgia (8), and Agnes (5).

The 1920 Federal Census for Franklin, Southampton Co., VA, District 60, page 136A, dated June 29, 1920, records Jesse T. (54 - VA/VA/VA) and Indie (52 - VA/VA/VA) Edwards with children Ryland T. (24), Claud (22), Lena (20), Georgie (17), and Agnes (14). Also in the household is nephew Wille J. Edwards (18).

The 1930 Federal Census for Franklin, Southampton Co., VA, District 60, page 136A, dated June 29, 1930, records Jesse T. (64 - VA/VA/VA) and India (62 - VA/VA/VA) Edwards with son Claud (32).

JESSE THOMAS EDWARDS

DEATH OF JESSE T. EDWARDS

Jesse Thomas Edwards, citizen and farmer of the Franklin community, died
suddenly Thursday morning at his home after a brief illness. He was 70 years
of age, a native of this county and a quiet, unassuming man who was liked and
esteemed by those who knew him.

Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. India Crumpler Edwards; two sons, Ryland T.
and Willie Claude Edwards; a daughter, Mrs. Theon A. Darden, all of the
Franklin community; seven grandchildren and one brother, S.H. Edwards of
Capron.

Mr. Edwards was a consistent member of Sycamore Baptist Church, and funeral
rites will be conducted from his home this (Friday) afternoon at 2:30 o'clock
by his Pastor, the Rev. Floyd P. Davis, assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson of the
Franklin Baptist Church. Burial will be made in the cemetery at Sycamore
Church. The active pallbearers are: Lee Vaughan, W.O. Cotton, I.Q. Wiggins, Ray
Vaughan, James A. Johnson, Alfred Cobb, E.L. Vaughan and James E. Daughtrey.

Jesse married Rebecca Indiana Crumpler, daughter of Joshua Crumpler and Mary Ann Daughtrey. (Rebecca Indiana Crumpler was born in Oct 1867 in Southampton Co., VA, died on 25 Mar 1952 in Southampton Co., VA and was buried in Sycamore Baptist Church Cemetery, Southampton Co., VA.)
