Nannie Meador Ashby
3/10/11-1/27/12 Our Grandmas's Gone Home
Nannie Meador Ashby, 100, a resident of Windsor Point Assisted Living, Fuquay-Varina, N.C., went to be with her Lord on Friday. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Carlton S. Ashby Sr. and her parents, John J. and Nancy K. Meador of Franklin County, along with her 11 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Carlton S. Ashby Jr. and wife, Connie; granddaughter, Carolyn A. McMurray and husband, Greg; grandson, Carlton S. Ashby III and wife, Shelley. She also leaves behind four precious great-grandchildren, Caleb McMurray, Caleigh Beth McMurray, Carlton S. Ashby IV and Ashlyn Baucom.
Nannie, the eighth of 12 children, grew up on a farm in Franklin county. She was a very industrious lady, always busy and always serving someone. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother, always providing for her family and friends through her cooking, sewing and serving others.
Mrs. Ashby was a member of Cherry Point Baptist Church in Havelock and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Fuquay-Varina after moving to Raleigh in 1977. She enjoyed the fellowship of the ladies in her Sunday School Class very much.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2012, at Franklin Memorial Park, Rocky Mount.
The family will receive friends, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Windsor Point for all of their loving care during her final years. Many thanks also to the folks at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for their loving kindness shown to grandma and our entire family throughout the years.
