Howard B. Mitchell, 85, Bristol.
BRISTOL \emdash Howard B. Mitchell, 85, of Bristol, went to be with the Lord, Oct. 29, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Mitchell was born Feb. 2, 1923, a son of the late John F. and Dora Nell (Chase) Mitchell.
He was a retired insurance appraiser with Aetna Insurance after many years of service. He was a member of Bethel View Baptist Church and a charter member of Rebel Classic Thunderbird Club of East Tennessee.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Virginia (Seckler) Mitchell; children, Gerald T. Mitchell and his wife, Patty, Terry L. Mitchell and his wife, Kathy, Barbara G. Dumas and her husband, Jim Doyle, Eva M. Seifert; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Marie S. McGrady and Eva Seckler; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their many thanks to the staff of Hospice House in Bristol.
The family will receive friends anytime at the home and on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home.
Services will follow with Pastor Andy Wood officiating.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Fordtown Baptist Church Cemetery where friends and family are asked to assemble by 12:45 p.m.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Rebel Classic Thunderbird Club of East Tennessee.
