Virginia Dare Mitchell, age 84, entered into rest Sept. 14, 2012, at Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn. She was born in Wilkes County, N.C., and was a long-time resident of Bris tol, and was a member of Bethel View Baptist Church. Virginia was retired as a sales clerk with J.C. Penny's. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard B. Mitchell; son, Johnny; her parents, W.A. and Lucy Nunn Seckler; three brothers, Jack, William and Joe Seckler; and one sister, Lucille Bumgardener. Survivors include, two daughters, Eva Seifert of Leesburg, Va., Barbara and husband, Jim Doyle, of Johnson City, Tenn.; two sons, Terry and wife, Kathy Mitchell, of Bristol, Tenn., Gerald and wife, Patty Mitchell, of Blountville, Tenn.; six grandchildren and two great- granddaughters; one sister, Marie McGrady of Kingsport, Tenn.; one sister-in-law, Eva Seckler of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers, Diania Harrison and Susie Stout; and the Staff at Wellmont Hospice House for the care given to Virginia. The family will receive friends Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at 2 until 3 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Andy Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Fordtown Cemetery. In lieu of food and flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steeles Road, Bristol, TN 37620 or the American Cancer Society.
