The 1850 Federal Census for Nansemond Co., VA, page 182A, dated Oct. 19, 1850 records Thomas Pierce (13 - Nansemond Co., VA) living with his parents, Micajah Pierce (60 - Nansemond Co., VA) and Harriet Pierce (45 - Nansemond Co., VA), and siblings Stephen R. Pierce (25 - Nansemond Co., VA), William Pierce (20 - Nansemond Co., VA), Martha Pierce (16 - Nansemond Co., VA), and Laura A. Pierce (14 - Nansemond Co., VA). Micajah is a farmer with real estate valued at $1,500.

The 1850 Federal Census for Nansemond Co., VA, page 195A, dated Nov. 4, 1850 records John T. Pierce (16) living with his parents, Thomas M. Pearce (48 - VA) and Parthena Pierce (30), and siblings Mary A. C. Pierce (18), Wm H. (14), Ann N. (12), Jesse E. (10), Martha L. (7), Robert T. (5), and James (1). Thomas is a farmer with real estate valued at $1,500.

The 1860 Federal Census for the Lower Parish, Nansemond Co., VA, Suffolk P. O., page 529, dated August 7, 1860 records Thomas R. Pierce (24) living with his widowed father, Micajah Pierce (70 - VA). Micajah is a farmer with real estate valued at $1,250 and a personal estate valued at $5,000. In succesive household reside: Stephen R. Pierce (28) [no wife nor child] who is a farmer with real estate valued at $600 and a personal estate valued at $200; William Pierce (28) [no wife nor child] who is a farmer with real estate valued at $750 and a personal estate valued at $50; and James R. Pierce (38) with his wife Mariah Pierce (41) and children George T. Pierce (10), Alexina Pierce (8), John R. Pierce (5), and Micajah Pierce (2). James is a farmer with real estate valued at $500 and a personal estate valued at $4,000.

The 1860 Federal Census for the Upper Parish, Nansemond Co., VA, Suffolk P. O., page 623, dated July 28, 1860 records John Pearce (26) living with his widowed father, Thomas M. Pearce (57 - VA), and siblings William (23), Ann (21), Jesse (18), Martha (14), Robt (13), James (11), and Alexander (9). Thomas is a farmer with real estate valued at $1,000 and a personal estate valued at $350. John has real estate valued at $375.
