Pearce (34 - VA) and son Jacob R. Pearce (2). Also in the household is Stephen R. Pearce (45 - VA). Both Thomas and Stephen are farmers with Thomas having real estate valued at $1,000 and a personal estate valued at $210. Stephen has real estate valued at $1,000 and a personal estate valued at $100. Next door is James R. Pearce (46 - VA) with his son Micajah Pearce (12 - VA). James is a farmer with real estate valued at $400 and a personal estate valued at $262.

The 1870 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., VA, Suffolk P. O., page 231A, dated July 27, 1870 records Margaret E. Pearce (25) and her husband John T. Pearce (36) with their daughter, Eudora Pearce (11/12). John is a farmer with real estate valued at $450 and a personal estate valued at $150. Also in the household is a domestic servant, Mary A. Holland (11). Near by is Thomas Pearce (68) with Charlotty Pearce (39), Martha S. Pearce (24), Alexander S. Pearce (18), and Juliet Pearce (1).

There is no record from the 1880 and later Federal Census for Nansemond Co., VA listing Margaret E. Pierce and her husband Thomas R. Pierce with any children; howver, we can find Jacob in the 1910 census ... see below.

Pierce (9), Canuce B. Pierce (6), and Maggie I. Pierce (2). Also in the household is an adopted daughter, Mary A. Holland (20). John is a farmer. Near by is Thos M. Pierce (79) with Charlotte Pierce (47), Martha S. Pierce (36), Julia E. N. Pierce (11), James L. Pierce (20), Sarah J. Pierce (23) [James' wife], Roma L. (3) [James' daughter] Pierce, Mandi Pierce (7/12) [James' daughter], and Alexander Pierce (24).

The 1900 Federal Census for Holy Neck, Nansemond Co., VA, District 26, page 107A, dated June 6, 1900 records Maggie E. Pierce (Nov 1845) and her husband John Pierce (May 1834) with their children Clarence B. Pierce (Oct 1873) and Ines M. Pierce (April 1878). John and Magge have been married for 34 years and have had 6 children of whom only 2 are still living. John is a farmer and Clarence is a salesman. Also in the household is Mary A. Holland (May 1860) listed as "help".

Pearce (60), with his wife Sarah J. (56) and their children Selena (28), Thomas (26), William C. (24), and Rubert (16). Also in the household is James' brother, William H. (74). James and Sarah have been married for 35 years and have had 5 children of whom 4 are still living.
