Obituary for JACOB K. DAUGHTREY
Died at his residence in Nansemond County, Va., Oct. 4th, 1868, in the 72nd year of his age; Brother Daughtrey made a profession of religion in youth, and joined the South Quay Baptist Church. He at once began to take a part in the public services of the sanctuary. In a few years he entered the ministry. He soon transferred his membership to the Beaver Dam Church, which he served as pastor many years. His labors with that church were greatly blessed, and long will its members cherish and revere his memory. He entered and continued in the ministry under many disadvantages. Though blessed with good natural talents, his education was limited. He deeply felt and often confessed his want of an education for the great work of preaching the gospel.
