John appears to take ther surname Cremer while his brother, George, uses Cramer.

After receiving the death certificates for John and his wife Minnie, and doing additional research, it appears that this John Wesley Cremer is not the son of Obadiah Cramer. I will leave this person in the database due to the fact this John Cramer would be a "what happened to John Cramer". John W. Cremer is listed in the 1900 census as born in 1858 in Illinois with a father from PA and mother from Ohio ... just like Obadiah's son, John. Also, there is no other record for Obadiah's son, John, thus the confusion for this and future researchers.

The death certificate for John W. Cremer records his date of birth as March 21, 1854 in Yellowhead Township, [Kankakee Co.] Illinois and death as May 27, 1930 in Kankakee, Illinois. His parents are listed as Jeremiah Cremer and Martha Gamble. Additional research follows the Jeremiah Cremer family, including John Wesley Cremer, from 1850 through 1880 and allows this researcher to determine that this John Cremer is not the John Cramer, son of Obadiah.

John married Minnie Loraine Wheeler, daughter of Ephraim Wheeler and Lucrecia (Lucy) Lyman, circa 1890 in Illinois. (Minnie Loraine Wheeler was born in May 1867 in Momence, Kankakee Co., Illinois, died on 18 Sep 1945 in Kankakee, Kankakee Co., Illinois and was buried on 21 Sep 1945 in Mound Grove Cemetery, Kankakee, Illinois.)
