William Doughtie's son, Bolden, will marry William Miltiere's daughter, Mary Etta) records William F. (30) and Mary A. (26) Milteer with children William (5), Josephine (4), and Frank (2). Also in the household is Margaret Byrd (57) and Martha S. Milteer (11). Near by is Henry Milteer (28) and his wife Mary A. Milteer (22). William's real estate is valued at $3,000 and a personal estate at $6,500.
The 1870 Federal Census for the Cyress Chapel, Nansemond Co., VA, page 622 records William F. (40) and Mary A. (36) Milteer with children William L. (15), Josephine (14), Francis P. (11), Martha E. (7), Mary E. (5), Beulah B. (3), and not named (8/12). Also in the household is Margaret Byrd (67) and Sarah Copeland (16).

A. Brock, Secretary of the Virginia Historical Society, published in 1885: H. H. Hardesty & Co. Publishers; New York, Richmond, Chicago and Toledo: William Francis Milteer - is of French and English descent, the first in the name and blood locating in the infant colony of Virginia as early as 1658. He is a son of Abraham and Peggy (Simons) Milteer, his father born in Nansemond County about 1790, and his mother in 1802. William Francis was born in this county,on the 24th of June, 1830. He married in Nansemond County, October 24, 1850, on that date taking Mary Ann Byrd as his wife, and eight children were born of their union: William Luther, October 15, 1854; Josephine June 6, 1857; Frank Preston, October 28, 1859; Martha Emily, November 14, 1862; Mary Etta, July 18, 1865; Beulah Benton, April 19, 1867; Gertrude Evelyn, October 6, 1869; Abraham Thomas, August 21, 1871. The first born is a resident now of Georgia, the others in Nansemond county. Mrs. Milteer was born in Nansemond county, March 14, 1834, and was a daughter of Demspy and Margaert (Savage) Byrd. Her father was born in 1790, and her mother in 1803, both in Nansemond county. Mr. Milteer went into the Confederate States service in a Nansemond company, and remained in the army until disabled by sickness for the activities of the service. He is a farmer, with postoffice address at Somerton, Nansemond coutny, Virginia.

The cause of her death was Pneumonia / Bronchial Asthma.
