JOHN L. RAWLS, JR.
Mr. John Rawls, 81, of Alachua, Florida, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Haven Hospice in Gainesville following a long battle with cancer.
Mr. Rawls was born in Winter Haven, FL., on October 21, 1930 to the late John and Martha Rawls, Sr. He served in the United States Air Force and was an avid member of the NRA. After earning his BA from Auburn University, he worked for Sperry Rand Corp. In the early 70's he partnered in starting the R & W Farm Equipment business, in LaCrosse. His passion was farming and running his J & E Sod Farm business.
Preceded by him in death was his wife Evelyn of 40 years. Survived by his wife of 17 years; Cindy and daughter Becca Wilkerson. He also leaves behind Sister-in-law; Helen Litton. Brother-in-laws H.J. Waychoff (Kay), William (Barb), Dan, & Caleb Troxell. Nieces; Carolyn Stone, Linsey & Caitlin Troxell. Nephews; Ronnie, Donnie, Tommy, & David Thompson.
A celebration of life service for Mr. Rawls will be on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, in Raiford, FL., with Pastor Harold Hudson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Haven Hospice House of Gainesville.
